The Asus Padfone, Reloaded
Asus' phone and tablet combo gets a sequel.

ASUS today announced the Padfone 2 in Taipei, and we're amongst the first in the world to be given a hands-on preview on this new device. Building upon the
success of the first PadFone - A combination device of an Android smartphone and a dockable tablet, the PadFone 2 now features higher overall specification internally with a redesigned exterior and docking system.
The ASUS PadFone 2 is a fully featured 4.7-inch Android smartphone that docks with the unique PadFone 2 Stat
ion to merge into a lightweight, also fully featured 10.1-inch tablet. Apps will be seamlessly optimized on-the-fly to support both tablet and phone models with an instant transition between smartphone and tablet screen sizes.
A completely redesigned device, the PadFone 2 Station sports significantly reduced
thickness and weight. The combined weight of both the PadFone 2 and PadFone 2 Station is 649g, making it lighter than most tablets on the market. The dock mechanism has also been redesigned to only require one swift slide-in to dock the smartphone. The PadFone 2 also received an increase in screen size to 4.7-inch while reducing its thickness and weight to just 9mm at its thickest point and 135g, respectively.
A higher capacity battery of 2140mAh provides up to 16 hours of 3G talk time and 13 hours of WiFi connectivity. The PadFone 2 Station's 5000mAh battery on the other hand, gives 36 hours of 3G talk time and can recharge the docked PadFone 2 three times over.
