Twitter index: MTV EMA nominations, Canon’s new EOS 6D

The MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) celebrate the best in European music videos; the nominees for this year's awards were announced on Monday.

MTV viewers vote on their favorite videos and the winners will be announced on November 11. Due to the voting system for the awards, Twitter users are taking to the microblogging site to encourage others to vote for their favorite bands. Currently the majority of tweets associated with the trending topic "2012 EMAs" appear to be split between fans of British-Irish boy band One Direction and teenage pop star Justin Bieber. Fans have until November 9 to cast their votes.

Fans of the nominated artists can also join "teams" associated with that artist on the official EMA site; according to the site the five most popular "teams" are currently Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, One Direction, Katy Perry and Rihanna.

Also causing a buzz is Canon's new DSLR, the EOS 6D. The DSLR features built in WiFi and GPS, allowing location data to be embedded into images, a standard ISO of 100-25600 expandable to 50-102800, a 20.2MP full frame CMOS sensor and 1080p30 video recording capabilities.
