'Medal of Honor: Warfighter' pre-orders to include 'Battlefield 4' beta access
Though developed by separate teams, the two games are united by their use of the Battlefield studio's Frostbite game engine, one that has been used to good effect in Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but somewhat less beneficially in racing game Need for Speed: The Run.
A similar beta incentive was used during the lead-up to Medal of Honor's 2010 release. Owners of the Medal of Honor: Limited Edition or Tier 1 Edition were granted entry to the Battlefield 3 public beta in September 2011, a full 48 hours before the great unwashed could download it willy-nilly.
There's no word as to whether the Battlefield 4 promo means that the full game launches before the close of 2013 or not, or whether the otherwise expected Bad Company 3 is being dumped altogether.
Either way, the current pattern shows that Electronic Arts is keen to see a new Medal of Honor or Battlefield every year, just as Activision has enjoyed phenomenal success with Call of Duty's annual excursions.
